We helped a health & beauty wholesaler free up valuable space and improve cleanliness with a new void fill solution.Talk to a Packaging Specialist
On a first visit with this client, we discovered they didn’t have much space available for the product that they were using as cushioning for their products being shipped. They were using packaging peanuts, and the bags, while very lightweight and easy to handle, were stacked anywhere they could find a space. In addition, and as is the case with most companies using high volumes of packing peanuts, the peanuts were blown and scattered all over their facility. Through our discovery questioning, we uncovered that they were experiencing some return claims due to damage. It was also discovered that some of the smaller beauty products would get lost in the packing peanuts, and would at times be thrown out resulting in dissatisfied clients and costly claim/replacement orders being shipped.
We moved them from packing peanuts to air pillows that fit snugly around their products so they didn’t move in transit. The operators were able to place the pillows in a way that not only filled voids in the box, but also provided just the right amount of cushioning to product their products.
The client was able to free up valuable plant floor space by eliminating the packing peanuts since a single bundle of the film, in a small 14” x 14” box, used to produce the air pillows covers nearly 4 bags of packing peanuts. Each bag of peanuts measured 14 cubic feet. They also improved their facility cleanliness by not having packing peanuts blown all over the floor. An additional benefit they believed was in the presentation of their product getting to their clients. They had a client that even commented to them that they preferred not having the peanuts in the packaging because they would get all over their facility as well when they opened the packages.
