Client was experiencing stock-outs due to fluctuating demand needs, along with challenges maintaining accurate inventory levels in their main distribution center.
We began a VMI (vendor managed inventory) program where we would go into their facility and perform inventory counts ourselves. Based on data being gathered, we would adjust their re-order points and set forecast demand needs in our system for their items so we would make sure that we always had their product, even the custom made ones, in stock at all times.
Once we captured 60 days of data and set the inventory parameters in both our ERP systems, the client’s stock-outs were non-existent. Performing the VMI for them also lead them to reduce their supplier base by having us stock and supply more of the consumable items.
