The Problem
Client was using foam-in-place packaging to send out parts to ships. Once the contents of the box were used, the military wasn’t able to dispose the product easily. They had to bag and tag the used foam-in-place and have it shipped back to return centers of the manufacturer, or had to ship to a WTE (waste-to-energy) incineration plant for processing. The process was time consuming for staff to manage, the waste took up valuable storage space, and there were logistics costs on the back end sending the waste to a facility to recycle.

We moved them to a kraft paper equipment for their void fill needs. When they send parts to the Naval ships, the folks on board that are assigned to the ship’s Environmental Department are able to dispose of the paper void fill overboard at sea.

Since the paper breaks down and safely degrades in sea water, both time and money was saved by the Navy.
