The Problem

The Problem

Condensation created from the pallet covers covering the product being shipped on refrigerated trucks was getting on the product boxes, jeopardizing the integrity of the box, along with diminishing the client’s brand. Our client needed a way to protect the product in transit from getting dust/dirt on it, while also mitigating the occurrence of condensation. In addition, while solving this problem, we uncovered another use for the bags that greatly reduced costs.

The Solution

The Solution

Instead of using thick pallet covers, we moved them to a lightweight, thinly constructed, banana bag that solved, not only this particular need, but also another one they had. Instead of purchasing expensive wax covered boxes to crate the bananas and tomatoes to prep for the ‘gas flushing’ process, they were able to purchase much less expensive, non-wax boxes, and used this bag to cover the pallet to protect the foods from the gas during processing.

The Impact

The Impact

First, the banana bag acted as a thin dust cover to keep the product clean from dust, dirt, and aerial debris, while also mitigating the occurrence/appearance of condensation being built up on the boxes the cover was meant to protect. Secondly, the banana bag used during the gas flushing process helped to expedite the ripening process of the foods. Removing the wax boxes and thick pallet cover to just standard boxes and a banana bag covering the pallet reduced the overall spend by nearly 60%.
